The Community Resiliency Model (CRM)®

From the Trauma Resource Insitute

A gentle 3-week  somatic program for professionals who’ve experienced significant work setbacks, been impacted by toxic work environments and/or experienced workplace trauma, and want to reclaim their sense of self and well-being.

CRM changed my life. I’ve had a LOT of trauma. I’ve done a ton of therapy and learned many nervous system regulation techniques. None of them totally met my needs. CRM was the one that really clicked for me.

The Community Resiliency Model® (CRM) from the Trauma Resource Institute is, in the words of the people who learn its concepts and skills, an “operating manual on what is means to be human in today’s complex world.”

Trauma and resilience have become buzz words these days. The brilliance of CRM is how it combines accessible psycho-education, with real practical body-based skills.

No-one is asked to talk about their feelings.

No-one has to talk about what they’ve experienced.

Rather they get to experience the hope and power of being able to reset their own natural balance, gently and effectively.

Whether you’re currently in a challenging workplace situation, or still carrying the effects of past experiences, these evidence-based techniques can help you find your way back to stability and strength.

Maybe you’ve tried

And while all of them might be helping, none of them really seem to be moving the needle.

Friends and family might tell you to “just find another job,” “get over it,” “don’t take it so personally,” or “stand-up for yourself.”

They don’t seem to understanding the soul-crushing impact this experience has had on you. How it is has caused you to question every part of yourself.

Many approaches treat workplace trauma as purely a mental challenge that can be thought away. This puts a huge burden on you, suggesting that if you just think differently or try harder, it wouldn’t get to you this way, you’d be over it already, or dealing with it more effectively.

What these solutions miss is that trauma and chronic stress fundamentally impact your nervous system – your body is literally “keeping the score” through anxiety, exhaustion, and physical symptoms that no amount of positive thinking seems to touch.

Being aware of my body and it’s cues, and developing the resilience to meet challenges, using my body: it’s been life changing.

I've spent so much time deliberately trying to fight sensations and try to move into a space of calm or relaxation. It was surprising – and beneficial – experiencing that what I needed to do was acknowledge them and observe them. And that that released the stress. This was counterintuitive, and surprising to me…and yet it worked!

A Different Approach: Body-Based Healing

The Community Resiliency Model (CRM) offers a gentle, effective path forward that honors both your experiences and your body’s innate capacity for healing.

Instead of just talking about your experiences, or trying to think your way out of them, you’ll learn practical, body-based skills that work with your nervous system’s natural ability to restore balance.

I learned a lot of things about trauma – and love the insights I got. Never thought of being a pleaser as a survival response to trauma. But now I get it. I like the Help Now! practices – they’re immediate and action oriented.

Program Overview

I got unstuck in a palpable way. From where I started to where I ended was a 180° change. I started fully engrossed and enveloped in my workplace trauma. CRM gave me the plan and to grow past the state I was in. CRM is a roadmap from wherever you are to someplace else you can be. Don’t put pressure on yourself to determine what that is. But give yourself permission to travel the road. You don’t have to do it perfectly. All you have to do is give yourself permission to start.

Program Details

How long does it take?

10-15 minutes in the morning and in the evening.

That’s (probably) less time than you spend scrolling social media and the news…and much kinder to your nervous system and more uplifting to your spirits.

Is this therapy?

No. Nor is CRM trauma processing or a substitute for therapy.

It is psychoeducation program that combines teaching about trauma with gentle practices to calm one’s nervous system.

Everything is invitational.

The absence of choice is a hallmark of trauma.

Everything in this program is 100% invitational.

Understanding trauma is empowering.

Understanding what trauma is, and how it affects us, it is profoundly empowering.

People start to see that whatever they are experiencing are common, normal, human responses to overwhelming and highly stressful circumstances.

Will I be recovered in 3 weeks?

Everyone’s journey is different. And everyone who does this program is at a different stage of their journey.

Wherever you are in your recovery journey, this program offers something profoundly practical, gentle and effective.

If you engage with it, it will ease your suffering. And you’ll gain lifelong practical tools and understanding.

CRM was valuable to me. I was able to reflect on my own experiences and validate the feelings and responses in my body to those feelings. I then found some specific tools to refocus and get back in the zone when needed. I also found it very refreshing to be "invited" to do something rather than having to do it. This had a huge positive impact on me. I'm implementing it for others around me too.

I’ve appreciated the immersion quality of this program. It’s made it a lot more meaningful. I had been worried that it might feel uncomfortable. But it wasn’t: it was just a really safe space for me to be vulnerable in.
